Along with Vancouver, Whistler was the host resort for the Olympic Winter Games and the Paralympic Games in 2010. Although Vancouver hosted the opening ceremony and some varieties of the sports of field hockey, skating and skiing, the Whistler Village hosted some skiing events. More than 2,400 athletes, coaches and delegation representatives stayed in this Olympic village.
